¿Qué pasa cuando un diseñador francés, enamorado de México, descubre una mansión del siglo XIX en ruinas oculta en la jungla maya?
Emmanuel Picault devuelve el esplendor y la vida a la Haciendo Xucu.
Edificada en 1830 por una familia de origen vasco, sus 5.000m2 construidos, rodeados de 5 hectáreas de exhuberante parque y de otras 1.000 hectáreas de tierras, nos hablan del esplendor de una hacienda que vivió su época dorada durante el auge de la explotación de la fibra del sisal. La Hacienda Xucu, detuvo su producción en 1950 y fué abandonada en 1970. En ruinas, invadida por la vegetación salvaje, la casa estuvo a punto de ser puesta a la venta por sus actuales propietarios mexicanos.
Dos palabras claves guiaron el proyecto de Emmanuel: «rescatar» y «transmitir». La consigna fué preservar los elementos originales, dejando que los vestigios del pasado y las marcas de deterioro quedaran a la vista, para poner en valor su esencia y el relato de su historia.

Me provoca una sensación extraña. Supongo que es ese el fin de su rescate. La mezcla de elementos hace que el abandono sea mas latente y aún así luzca hermoso.
